4. International Festival of Colours

We are proud to announce the fourth edition of the only "Strictly facepainting"-contest in the world.

The big news: We moved from Freiburg to Cologne!
The festival will now be part of the biggest tradeshow for carnival supplies "Interkarneval" and you can expect more than 15,000 visitors. Every painter will benefit from more attention, press and media. But let's start with the basics ...

What's it all about?

For almost twenty years we - the Schminktopf crew - call facepainting our home, always concerned about raising its standard. This festival offers an opportunity to show the public that painting faces means more than cheek designs, yeah, it can be art. So we started this competition in 2006 with a mixture of pro-contests and school-contests. We decided to support teenagers and had them compete in their own contests in order to raise a new generation of facepainters that has a new and "innocent" approach.

If you want to get an impression of the results of our idea, visit our gallery. Compare 2006 with 2007 and 2008, and you will see the development even within one year. Especially the kids did a quality jump, so that sometimes you could not even tell the difference to a pro. But also the experienced painters proved that they want to go on and in the end the Top Ten were incredibly close together.

Join this crowd, meet people that love facepainting as much as you, relax in the beautiful surrounding of the Freiburger Waldsee and show your style! We have two competitions on Sunday, several workshops on Saturday and a whole lot of demonstrations.
